What is Flanders Investment & Trade about? What are your organization‘s values, culture, working style?
At Flanders Investment & Trade, we promote bilateral Trade between Flanders, the northern region of Belgium, and the Baltic States. We take a hands-on approach to helping Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian and Belgian companies identify the best entrepreneurship opportunities and achieve their international commercial ambitions. Promoting Flanders as a world-class knowledge economy is our core priority.
How would you describe your field of expertise?
We work across all sectors, but we typically find a strong mutual interest in R&D related fields, like photonics, especially when it comes to investing in Flanders. In terms of export from Flanders into the Baltics, we see a very broad range, from Food & Drink, medical goods or ICT all the way down to Alpaca farming (true story!).
What do you enjoy the most about your work? What are the biggest “wins”?
The variety is certainly our favourite aspect of the job. We get to meet and work with people from across all branches of the economy. Every day brings a new adventure and puzzle to solve. I enjoy the work across different cultures. Every four years, our Counsellors change locations and having recently arrived in Vilnius, one of the biggest “wins” has been the warm welcome at Workland.
What do you value the most about your working environment in Workland Gedimino?
Location location location! The old saying really applies to Workland Gedimino as we are right in the middle of the city, with access to other companies, government branches, restaurants, bars, gyms etc. Therefore, it truly is very convenient.
What would be the three words that best describe your experience at Workland?
Space, convenience & homeliness.
